Summer Makeup Tips and Tricks by Lady Celeste

Summer Makeup Tips and Tricks - How to keep summer makeup fresh!

Sweltering heat and humidity can wreak havoc with your summer make-up. Foundation may seem to melt and liquefy and no powder stands up to those little beads of sweat that seem to collect around the hairline. A modification of your regimen may be in order, and a few tricks will get you through a midday makeup meltdown. Simple tricks often make the largest impact in how you look and how you perceive yourself.

With summer here you've probably been through your wardrobe and dusted down your summer clothes, but what about your make-up bag? Now is the perfect time to give it a summer makeover.

Foundation...

Keep your foundation thin in warmer weather. Your skin tone will change, so don't be afraid to buy a bottle of your favorite brand in a darker color and mix it to match your skin. If it is too heavy, add some water or moisturizer to thin it out a little bit. Skip the foundation (I know some cannot) and opt for a tinted moisturizer. If foundation is necessary, limit the application to the center of the face, steering clear of the hairline. Do consider switching to an oil free formula for the summer months! This lighter coverage will fare better when temperatures heat up. Do not forget to look under your eyes, as this is wear you will find a lot of foundation build up when it is sweltering outside. If it happens, do not panic, simply keep some qtips or cotton swabs with you and remove as necessary....resist the temptation to reapply unless you feel it absolutely necessary.

Mascara...

Today's mascara isn't near as Conservative as it was years ago. With brushes, colors, and formulas available for just about every situation, your choice today is much easier whether you are a blonde, brunette or redhead. Summer may be the only time you need waterproof mascara. For exercising or swimming, use the waterproof formula to prevent the dreaded 'black eye' syndrome. Even if you don't anticipate the need, keep some on hand for that impromptu invite to the lake or the beach. There is nothing worse than running mascara! Waterproof mascara is great, but you'll probably need an oil-based eye make-up remover to take it off properly so that you do not get unsightly build-up.
